Well, it just so happens that on Christmas Eve, I woke up feeling kind of gross: I had a sore throat and I was very dizzy. This feeling continued until the 26th in the evening, when I suddenly lost my sense of smell, and consequently my sense of taste.
I will have you know, life is just way too boring when you can't taste your food.
So, for the next few days I ate only chicken noodle soup which was heated to extremely high temperatures and was smothered in pepper so that I would at least be able to burn my tongue if nothing else.
This no-tasting thing lasted for about six days. Well, on the sixth day of not being able to taste any food, having an extremely stuffed up nose and a very painful sinus headache, I decided it was time to go to the doctor.
So, I left the house at 10:30am on December 31st and sat in Emergency until 2:00pm, got a prescription from the doctor for amoxicillin and a saline nasal spray for a sinus infection (which took a total of ten minutes to diagnose and prescribe), and then went home and drugged up.
What a waste of a morning/afternoon just to get a bottle of 42 pills.
I could just as easily have diagnosed myself. HMPH.
But, I think the meds are starting to work, because I can sort of make out flavours of food again.
Teehehehee, you guys should see how excited I get when I can actually smell something. I run around the house like a dog, sniffing EVERY SINGLE potent smell that I can get my nose close to. My parents think I'm an animal.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, and I wish you all the best in the new year!
Sam, I love you. and I can TOTALLY picture you running around, sniffing everything (:
