God Bless Us, Every One!

I must say that although the true Christmas story of Jesus' birth is my absolute favourite, I very much enjoy Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.

Yes, I do realize that the two are completely incomparable, one being actual history and one being a tall tale, but A Christmas Carol has been one of my favourite Christmas stories since I was a little kid. I've seen and read many different versions of this story, but they all come to the same conclusion and teach the same moral: Money CANNOT buy happiness.

In A Christmas Carol, no matter how rich Scrooge becomes, and no matter how much time he invests in his very stable career, he cannot obtain true happiness because he has no love in his life; in his heart. He holds onto his money with all of his might, and is in distress if he loses even a penny. His main goal in life is to become as rich as he can.

But why? What does it help if what you do with your money and your time isn't fulfilling?

Scrooge is a perfect example of those of us who idolize material things such as money. We prioritize riches to such an extent that we do not even have room in our hearts to love other people.

Jesus loved us so much, that sent his son to be born a man, so that he could live a man and die a man for the sins of everyone on Earth. He gave His son in love. He gave us His son to fulfill His purpose here on Earth. So then, what are we doing at Christmastime if we are not loving and giving to others?

What I am saying is that this is the season of giving, not of receiving or obtaining! Please, don't be a Scrooge this Christmas. Give with all you have; give with all of your heart! Because giving (of yourself, of your time, or of anything) is the only action in this life that is truly fulfilling.
Be Jesus to the people around you this Christmas, and give!

Merry Christmas to all, and God Bless us, every one!

P.s. - If you have not seen it, I could highly recommend watching or reading A Christmas Carol before 2010 is over!

  1. I personally recommend "A Muppet's Christmas Carol." it's the best version of that story I've seen so far (:

I liked this blog post, by the way.
    and I love you (:
