New Outlook On Hair

I remember having bleached my (naturally medium brown) hair a caramel blonde colour way back in the day. Well, actually, it was just over a year ago.

Since then, it has been dyed over dark auburn, cut, died over bright cherry red, cut, died over bright cherry red again, cut, and then, just recently, I got it trimmed.

My hair is thick, rough, and unruly to begin with, so to bleach it was one of the worst mistakes I've ever made in my life. Sure, it looked nice... for a while (until my roots started showing, that is). But, after a short time, my dry, unhealthy, and unbelievably damaged hair began to break off at weird lengths.

No one had really ever enjoyed my blonde hair, so once my roots had grown out about two inches, I went to my stylist and asked her what would be better for me... to keep up the blonde and bleach my roots, or to just dye a nice dark colour over my whole head.

Obviously, the darker you dye your hair, the healthier it gets. Once you infuse colour into your follicles, your hair will stop breaking off.

We decided that going dark would be my best option at that point (and, no, I didn't want to just grow out the blonde because my hair looked awful: my neutral brown roots clashed horribly with the warm caramel-ly rest of my head).

Since then I have kept my hair relatively dark and the major breakage has stopped... but, sadly blonde hair doesn't just go away once you dye over it: my hair was breaking off at the ends.

Honest to goodness, my hair has not gotten longer in over a year. Yes, it has GROWN (I can see roots, and tons of them), but it hasn't become any lengthier. Because of the blonde (that is, thankfully, almost completely gone now), my hair had been breaking off at the exact same length for an entire year.

I was not impressed when I'd figured this out. So I decided (against worldly and what's-in-style views) that I would grow out my natural hair colour. I was sick of fighting for soft, sleek hair, and tired of waiting for it to obtain any amount of length.

So, just this last Thursday I went for a trim and I told my stylist that I was growing out my natural colour. She advised me to buy this hair elixir that would soften the patches of hair that still contained bleach, detangle them, and make them a lot healthier.

I decided to take her advice, and I bought myself a very expensive bottle of what may be the best product I have ever used (and I have a feeling you might want to know what it's called).

Marrakesh Oil is the most genius thing I have ever put onto my hair. This product made even my damaged ends smooth as silk (and NOT greasy at all). I would recommend it to anyone and everyone that has hair which breaks off easily, is dry, damaged, frizzy, or unruly. It sells for $25.00 in Canada and $23.00 in the United States and can be bought at most salons. If your local salon doesn't have it, you can ask them to order it in, or you can order it online at this website:
